MAINTAINED BY BATH GARDEN DESIGN SINCE 2023

Wool Merchant’s House

Set across three tiers of walled gardens, our ongoing work at the Wool Merchant’s House in Beckington balances formal design with naturalistic charm.

The lower terrace features formal lawns, mature topiary, and lush foliage planting, leading to a poolside area framed by ornate ironwork and Wisteria-draped balustrades. A redbrick summer house anchors the space.

Above, deep perennial borders and further lawn areas rest under the canopy of an impressive beech tree. The upper tier becomes wilder, with espaliered fruit trees, a willow walkway, and meadow grassland.

Over the past year, we’ve focused on rejuvenating mature plants through specialist pruning, introducing new planting schemes, and reclaiming overgrown areas. We continue to manage pest control, maintain topiary, and support a flourishing cut flower garden — regularly supplying the house with seasonal arrangements by our head gardener and florist.

Future plans include creating wildflower meadows, redesigning borders, and enhancing sustainability and biodiversity throughout the garden.
